Robber Pulls Gun On Carle Place Employee For $3 Gas: Police

A man was arrested on Long Island weeks after he allegedly threatened a gas station employee with a gun – for only a few dollars' worth of gas, police said.

Roy Braithwaite, age 34, was arrested weeks after he reportedly robbed a Carle Place gas station, pulling a gun on a teen employee in order to get $3 worth of gas, police said.

Roy Braithwaite, age 34 of Uniondale, was arrested on Monday, Jan. 15 for the Dec. 2023 incident, Nassau County Police said.

Just after 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 21, Braithwaite walked into the Carle Place Lukoil gas Station, located at 500 Westbury Avenue, and tried to pay for gas using his debit card.

However, when his card was denied, he allegedly began to yell at the 18-year-old employee, throwing a chair against a display case and pulling out a black handgun.

Braithwaite pointed the gun at the teen, demanding to have his transaction authorized.

When the employee cooperated, Braithwaite reportedly left the store, pumped $3 worth of gas into his car, and fled the scene.

He was arrested at his Uniondale home after an investigation and was charged with robbery and menacing.

Braithwaite is scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday, Jan. 16 at First District Court in Hempstead.
